Google Chrome OS vs Microsoft Windows
Back in the 80s, I think I went on holiday with my father (the rare times I saw him) to Cornwall I think, and stayed at a Chalet park. One of the songs that was always played (due to a tribute act) was “Two Tribes”, by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, this is going to be just like that, 2 awesomely huge monolithic tribes clashing on the contemporary if not futuristic level.
Well Microsoft have finally found the ‘Gonna fuck yO’ ass up bitch’ supercharger button in Google and they have pushed it with Bing. If your not familiar with Bing its the new search engine on the block to rival google. According to WebProNews its had more hits per day than Live Search ever had, and Microsoft have now moved into Google’s Search Dominion in a big way. So Google has whipped out its Light Sabre and is carving its self some Belly meat off Microsoft, while screaming “I’ll eat ya baaaaaaybieeeessss”.
They are targetting the Netbook Market where battery longevity, speed and stability are paramount, Windows is bulky, making it slow and resource heavy. Being resource heavy means it eats ya battery like crazy meaning the onus has been on the hardware vender to throttle this and hold as much power as possible.
IF Google succeed in making this Stable, Lighttweight, Full Featured OS for Netbooks they could effectively start nailing the door shut on microsofts access to the netbook market, which is currently by my guess 75% owned by Linux Varients and 25% by Microsoft, so they are already being slaughtered by Linux. Now Google has decided this new OS will be Open Source like Linux this is a “Come Get Me” to all the manufacturers, and makes it easy for people to switch to as well. So Microsoft will not only be fighting Linux and Mac on its Ultra Portable and Netbook area’s but now they are going to be fighting Google.
This is FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC news for us users as it means both these companies are now going to put 100% into their products and try to instill loyalty in its users meaning cheaper, better and faster!
